Epidemiology

Wide age range with peak incidence in middle aged adults

Clinical Features

  • Slow growing, painless mass
  • Well demarcated

Location

  • Extremities most common, specifically lower limbs
  • Often near large joints
  • Can be either subcutaneous or deep

Imaging

MRI: well circumscribed mass, variable signal characteristics and enhancement

Pathology

Myxoid and collagenous stroma with bland spindle cells

Genetics

NCOA2 gene rearrangements

Treatment

  • Simple marginal excision
  • No need for wide margins

Prognosis

  • Excellent - recurrence after complete excision is rare
  • No malignant potential
